Perfect Shihtzus not so perfect, couple loses $1,700

Sunday, September 4, 2016

http://salina.com/news/local/perfect-sh ... 5c199.html

The 11-week-old Shih Tzu puppy was advertised as a “true find when searching for gold. So look no further you struck gold when you found me!”

The white, 21/2 -pound female did look perfect, dressed in a red outfit with white polka dots, but a Salina couple is out $1,700 trying to purchase Sofie.

Capt. Mike Sweeney, of the Salina Police Department, said the east Salina couple in their 60s found Sofie online at perfectshih tzus.com.

The teacup Shih Tzu is still being advertised for sale for $500.

Sweeney said the “fraudulent scam activity” occurred over a four-day period between Aug. 22 and Aug. 26.

The scam was reported to the police Sunday when the dog failed to arrive at Salina Regional Airport via Great Lakes Airlines.
