Original CraigsList.org ad for Energetic Medical Receptionist. On Oct. 7, 2015 I answered this CraigsList ad. There were two addresses to respond to, one a standard craigslist.org series and the other [email protected]. I received the identical response as the one that you posted. I must say something felt too good to be true although I really liked the idea of working with flexibility as a Personal Assistant to an artist and antiques dealer. Too bad. I will be vigilant about any future correspondence.

I'm so glad you found the warnings before falling victim to the scam!

In the future, always know that no legitimate employer would hire you without some form of face-to-face meeting either in person or through video conferencing and no legitimate employer would have you use your own bank account and/or wire money through Western Union or Money Gram. ReadTim Atern's messages and avoid going forward. I had 2 attempted scams in the last week, both from craigslist postings. When something sounds too good to be true it probably is. Good Luck and recognize that no job offer makes sense without doing background search, reference verification, and visual contact with an applicant as well as a potential employer.

^^^ No - there would be no real threat of that. Scammers don't waste their time or money like that, they simply move on to their next victim. You can set up Google alerts for your name and address, though. Sometimes scammers will use names and addresses of prior victims and a Google alert would notify you if that information is out on the internet.

Absolutely, go to Google Alerts at https://www.google.com/alerts

From the Google support at https://support.google.com/alerts/answer/4815696?hl=en
1. Visit Google Alerts.
2. In the "Create an alert about" box, enter the words you want to get email notifications for.
3. Click Show options to say how often you get alerts, what types of results you want to get, and more.
4. Click Create Alert.
5. Once your alert is set up, you'll start getting emails any time we find new search results for your keywords.

You can also create an alert by clicking the + next to any of the suggested topics on the Google Alerts page.
