It seems I have just been scammed by this same person. I do believe it's someone in the military themselves doing this. Whoever this is I have spoke with is British based on the language he uses. He also like English Football (not American). He claims to have some amount of gold he wants to ship to you in the U.S., which I flat denied! Money has come up several times in conversation. I thought this person was real and I am highly dispappointed that he is not. He plays a good game.

Welcome blantonc,

I'm sorry to hear you were targeted by this scammer.

Chances of him having ANY connection to the US military are virtually zero. This particular scam is the creation of, and work of, scammers from Africa (who typically have much more knowledge of UK than US, and are devout followers of soccer. In fact, if he called it English football, that's a big sign right there--because an American would generally call it soccer.)

If you can post some of the emails he sent you, we can better help you to identify where the scammer is, and others can be alerted to his scripts too.

I will be happy to. I feel violated and threatened just because I have kids. He has pictures of me, my kids and some of my friends. I did notice that his email was misseplled, coming from Willaim Rynca. He even called me on the "commander's" phone. He did not have a british accent, though. It's very strange. Where do I send you that email? Also, most of the conversations were on Yahoo Messenger. How do I get those to you?

You can copy and paste them directly into posts here if you'd like (just remove your own name/info, and don't post your emails to him), or you can forward them to my address in my signature line.

For chats: If he asks for the money in a chat, we do sometimes like to post that portion, but we don't need all of the chats. You can do that a couple of ways:
-delete all your responses and just copy/paste his
-open your chat log in Microsoft word, and simply do a find/replace to remove your own ID.

To get a location (if he's not using a proxy) you will need to find the full headers of one of his emails.

Instructions for finding full headers can be found here: http://www.ip-adress.com/faq/view_email_header/
Once you get the header, you can copy and paste it here (remove your email address), or paste into the box here: http://www.iptrackeronline.com/index.php to get location information.

I will get this done, but it will have to be from home. I don't have access to everything. Some of it is on my phone. It will probably be tomorrow. Thanks for the concern.
