i would like to know if it's a scam
Hello Au pair,

How are you doing? I went through your profile at
http://www.easyaupair.com and was highly interested in your service to
be my beloved son's Au pair. I am Mrs.Sophia Wright, a window that
works with a Telecommunication company here in the UK, London, and my
son, Jude is (4) which i just enroll him at a kindergarten school. I
lost my husband in an auto crash accident a year and few months ago.
Due to my varying and lengthy working hours, I am looking for someone
who is caring, flexible and appreciates family values and will be
willing to be a special friend to my beloved son, someone i can trust
to treat as a family/friend and not just as an Au pair. I am easy to
get along with and will really want to make you feel comfortable and
at home. Your one and only duty will be basically to take good care of
Jude, I already have a housekeeper who cleans the house. You will be
provided with a well furnished room with its own bathroom, a desk
phone and computer system with full internet access. You are also
allowed a car for your easy accessibility and also in the case of
emergency. I can only afford to pay you 600GBP (Six hundred pounds)
weekly and 100GBP allowance to see to Jude's after needs and i hope
you can accept that. I will also pay for your documents and travel
expenses.

Kindly get back to me with your updated Resume/CV and few pictures of
yours if interested, so we will get to know each other more better and
also tell you more about your job.

Cheers,
Mrs. Wright.

Beloved Salome,

I hope you are doing great? I am impressed with the information you
gave me about you and i have agreed to give you the job offer of being
an Au pair for my son Jude, so kindly find the Contract Offer that is

Definitely a scam - the language is that of an African, rather than a natural English speaker and the use of a Barrister (with a free email address) is another give away.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

Another scam - any time a "family" try to introduce you to their "Barrister" then it is a sure sign that it is a scam.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

Man, she asked me to be her au pair as well. I even mailed the "barrister" and got "Sophia's" skype.. I knew it was too good to be true.
Dear **********,

How was your day today? I hope you had a lovely day. I am very glad
reading your mail as always which i contacted the barrister regarding
it and she informed me she will get in contact with you, I hope she
has done that? and if not, she also informed me that all you have to
do is send to her a copy of the signed contract letter while i am to
show my Certificate of Eligibility to show i can have you as my
aupair. I attached here picture of Jude while he is asleep. Good
night.

Cheers,
Mrs. Wright.

ATTENTION APPLICANT:

I received your mail. All you have to do is sign the contract letter and send back to me a scanned copy of it. Your host family, Mrs. Sophia Wright contacted me some few minutes ago in respect to the mail you sent her. She will be the one to show her Certificate of Eligibility to show she can employ you as her son Au pair not you.

Good luck.
Barr. Katie Wedds.

ATTENTION APPLICANT:

I received your mail. After legalization of your contract with Mrs. Sophia Wright, you will be sent some documents to you which include your Visa, Work Permit, Certificate of Eligibility and date to which you will visit the High Commission at the UK Embassy for your Interview. Hope you do understand? I awaits a copy of the signed contract letter so we can start work soonest.

I will have to say very nice try. I didn't want to believe it, but my mind kept telling me, if she was legit, she would be emailing me through easyaupair.com

Check out this one.
Hi,

I'm Mrs Stephaine Donovan, from NY, United States of America. I'm writing you on behalf of the entire family (my husband, our 2 children and I). Here is little about us. With us you find a family where unconditional love, peace and understanding reign. Our family do not like to judge a book by the cover or take gossip to determine who will be around. We always try to stay positive and find the best in anyone or any situation including the worst ones. My profile: I work as a sales manager at a walmart while my husband work as a civil engineer. How old? I'm 35years old of age. Why do we need your service? Due to the nature of my job, am not always around. I'll thereby need your service as a nanny for my kids. We are a social and fun to be with family looking for a enthusiastic aupair who adores children to spend their days enjoying their company. I will appreciate your response to know if you are interested.

Thanks
Stephaine

Hello Stephaine,
Thank you for your interest in me as your au pair/nanny. Your family sounds lovely, and under certain circumstances I would be more than happy to accept your offer. Unfortunately, since I don't have a visa for the United States, and the length of time and money that is necessary to invest into getting one is too much.
I wish you luck in finding a nanny for your lovely family and the best in your future endeavors.
Best regards,
***********

Hello ***********

I am grateful for your positive response. Allow me to explain more
about your assign duty and also about us.
At first, we reside in 117 South Ave, Staten Island, NY 10303, United
States. A nice, quite and calm city. Where we live is just about 25
mins drive from the big city of New York. I am blessed with two lovely
kids namely Ashley (she is 9 years old) and James (he his 7 years old)

What you are assign to do or I say your task as a nanny are as follows.
You'll be working 5 to 6 hours a day. You are required to prepare the
kids for school and take them to and from school. (that is, take them
to school and later go and pick them from school in the afternoon).
Care for and stimulate the children both mentally & physically, to
ensure their intellectual, physical and social development. Look after
their physical well being, encouraging proper use of everything - wash
and bath them, help them on how to dress and undress. You are required
to spend time with the child, running errands, house cleaning and
light cooking is a possibility, but not really a requirement. We
prefer someone who will reinforce our desire to teach our children
responsibilities and do not expect to undertake the children assigned
tasks but instead to find ways to encourage them to complete tasks (I
mean not to spoil the kids by doing everything for them).
On weekends (Saturdays) you'll take them out to new places such as
beach and other recreational places (You are fully free on Sunday).

When we want you to start and how long.
We did not have a specific date or reference to when you can start.
You can start anytime. We would like to have you for not less than two
months. It will be nice if you want to stay longer, even if you want
to stay for more than a year. Your happiness with us during your stay
is more important.

What we plan to offer.
We will be giving you $400 per week (I hope that is enough since we
will cater for your feeding. I mean you don't need to buy food from
outside). You and the kids will be going for shopping once in 5weeks.
We have internet facilities in the house for your use, a private room
with your own bathroom. A private car for you in taking the children
to and from school provided you know how to drive or willing to learn
driving. Getting you a driver's license will not be a problem.

Our interest as a family.
Our interests include the zoo, doing yoga, watching soccer, water
skiing, snow skiing, a walk in the park, play dates with friends,
arts, literature, traveling, shopping, cinema and taking good care of
our children. We love adventure, arts, traveling, soccer, literature,
laughter and our wonderful children. My kids are very active wanting a
partner to bounce and spin with them. I would want you convince me
that you are capable of doing this job to my satisfaction. In a
nutshell, we agree to be responsible for the purchase of your plane
ticket. I will like to know if you have a working permit and a valid
working visa that allow you work legally in Usa? I wait to read back
from you soon

Are you trying to scam me?
Why don't you just message me on easyaupair.com? I find this very suspicious!

Hello what do you mean by all this excuse me

I was just really curious, because a few other au pairs were explaining to me how they got scammed, and this seemed very familiar to their story. I'm sorry if I offended you.

Excuse me my family is not like that so dont tell me all this

:yikes:  I ended contact with her after that.

The pay is out of range for au pairs and the grammar is not that of an American. The description of the location doesn't make sense.

i have some news from vanessa williams at least his lawyer

Dear Salome Gourion,

Thank you for the expressing an interest over working for my client as Au pair,

I am Barr. Daniel Fischer from the Home Office acting on behalf of my client

Mrs Williams. Please to complete this employment process and allow you a visitation

to client, I will need you to prove that you have evidence of sufficient fund.

Since you are an EU citizen, (French) you do not need visa or work permit to work here legally

in the United Kingdom. The fund would show and serve as a bond as your host family

would be paying you monthly.

Your family or a friend need to use Money Gram or Western Union Transfer to send the

equivalent of £750 to your name as the receiver in London United Kingdom. Your card

is not acceptable.

Once you have done this deposit, scan and send via email the copy of the receipt given to

you where you had the money sent. The receipt would serve as evidence of sufficient fund

for a month's bond. You must do this immediately to allow me deem this employment process

complete and arrange a meeting with you and your host family so you can visit for one weekend

trial at their home in Chelsea London and arrange your social security and health insurance.

Hope I have been of assistance and await your response.

Sincerely,

Daniel Fischer

it's a still a scam ?

salomegourion wrote:it's a still a scam ?

Yes.

Barristers do not organise visas for people. To get a visa you would have to go to the British Embassy or Consulate in your country in person.

The mere mention of Western Union or Moneygram is also a sure sign that it is a scam - legitimate businesses (and Government departments) do not use this method of transferring money.

It would be in your interest to fully read this thread viewtopic.php?f=42&t=3019, which gives full details of what to look out for.

There is also one other thing to consider - I don't know what nationality you are, but it is possible that you are not even allowed to work in the UK as an au pair. Only individuals that are EU citizens or citizens or passport holders from the following countries are allowed to work as au pairs in the UK.

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Japan
  • Monaco
  • New Zealand
  • Republic of Korea
  • Taiwan

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.
