 I was recently half scammed. Fake job offer. I took the bait since I had applied to the company being portrayed. It was to be an overseas assignment. I procured a passport, but before I wired any money for immigration permits, I did a little digging and found out it was a scam. I was furious. I did not send the $3, 800.00 but I did e-mail a scanned copy of my passport! What should I do now. Help.

Never be scammed again!

Hi Aesquivel, I'm happy to hear that you sussed out that it was a scam before you parted with any money.

There is not a lot you need to do now, simply block the scammers email address and forget about them.

On the subject of the passport scan you sent, some scammers re-use victim passport scans, they might erase your name and insert their scamming name instead, they may send that to other victims and say that is their ID, nothing much you can do about that I'm afraid, and you cannot get in to any trouble over it, so just put it down to bad luck and carry on as normal, just make sure you cease all communication with the scammers from now on.

Remember, if it seems to good to be true, then it is.

And spread the word... Allot of these scams are successful because people do not talk about them.
