Hi there,

I am new and came from 419eater to post some information on the scam I got caught in. Before I do that in the proper forum area, I was wondering if I can suggest something. Maybe it is out there but I might not have been looking far enough..

Since I was close to being scammed, I was thinking of ways for people to find information on scammers to keep themselves from getting hurt. However, if I am not wrong, google crawlers do not extend into forums that much to grab information and hence, any information posted here might not be found by the innocent out there unless they know where to look.

I am suggesting a scam archive where images and full text information of each scam is listed, like phone number, name of scammer. This way, when someone gets a scam in the mail and wants to look for it online, they can just search like google and it will pop up as a webpage created. Also, the emphasize on full text is so people can search through google. Maybe not full text but main key information.

I am willing to spend some time when I am free to help key in information if a website is created to create an archive where people can search in ease for scammers.

Yay? Nay? =)

@newbiescambaiter, welcome to Scamwarners!

The forums that are visible to the general public - that don't need a login to be visible - are included in google searches. :)

The forums on each type of scam are in the public areas, and so a google search of the name, email addy, and even phrases from the emails that are posted here will turn up in a google search.

Thanks for the suggestion, though. :)

Welcome to Scamwarners Newbie, good idea, but I'm fairly sure the formats we post in here are picked up by google, I know the threads I've posted in Auctions are certainly, using either the scammers name or format, or parts of their formats.

The more traffic we can direct to here, the more chance google has of giving this site higher prominence.

Hi Newbie.

The other thing is that there are so many formats and email addresses, we just simply wouldn't have the time to index each one.

In saying that, there are sites that specialise in archiving:

They are recognisable by Google.

Welcome Newbiebaiter.

I would say that using search on 419eater may pull up names of scammers especially in the "surplus" forum.
Also on this site some members post full details of the scam emails and the individual sections for each style of scam contain a lot of information about the scammers formats.

It's an old cliché but a truism. The search button can be your best friend.
