Is this a Scam?

Hello I would like some advice on a problem I have occurred. I was on a jobsite that was advertising a job as a assistant animal officer. I emailed my CV & cover letter to them and here was the reply I got:

I went onto the website & they wanted a £95 registeration fee before any trainging has comenst plus the website has been build using a free website builder & also there is no contact details appart from an address. They also email me back strange times such as: 22.30PM, 6.30AM. which i find strange for a business to do.

If anyone could look at this website & provide me with any help as to if this is legit business or not or if it is a scam it would be a great help

Welcome to Scamwarners kayleighhazell, and I don't mean to be flippant but I wouldn't touch it with a pooper scooper, and you've worked out some of the main reasons for yourself.

I can't say it's a scam simply because there's insufficient detail to make any informed opinion, and for that reason, with it consisting of waffly uncorroborated claims, it isn't worth considering, even if the course were free.

Accredited by whom ?

What are the guaranteed jobs they promise to offer ?

It's virtually impossible that their course would enable you to become a veterinary assistant as this details the path to that career.

A certificate from an organisation no one's ever heard of is of no use or value whatsoever.

Do you have a link to the job site ? Some of the 'so-called' jobs I see appearing on employment sites are a cause for concern.

This website is part of a generic website called yolasite.com where many people can setup up webpages for free. Because of this the true business owner is hidden and we can only provide information on the parent site, which is yolasite.com. For information sites such as blogs this is normally ok - BUT if you are considering paying for something through this site, you should excercise caution! We have noticed many new fake and fraudulent ecommerce sites using these sites because the owner is hidden

Somehow a genuine site would not hide it's registration

The email addy is a gmx addy again I doubt a genuine site would use gmx.

There is an £95.00 training and registration fee, which is fully refundable on successful completion and your acceptance of employment with Home Counties Animal Care.

Again I am doubtful personally I would not touch this with a barge-pole

I just got this very same email, but for a different job title and with a different Yolasite address, which thankfully has been taken offline already. This is 100% a scam email and you should inform whomever the source of this 'job' application was.

As to the Jobcentre not approving, well they would not, my PA did not know this type of thing was going on, and alas they don't have much of a say in what ends up on the Jobsearch sites, it is up to the jobsites themselves to vet the jobs going up on their sites.

While some of them are quite good at removing them (once they have been pointed out to them !)

Thank you for posting this! I just received the same email at 6.30 after applying for two animal jobs, I was a bit suspicious.. £95 to become a vet nurse yay...

My two penneth... I just got this email and I thought...wow! I recall applying for work yesterday but I'm not sure if that application generated this, so I will try again just to check.

Not good with so many desperate people out there looking for work.

Welcome to Scamwarners Sweetpea12 and I'm happy to hear that you didn't get snared by these scammers.

A "Ltd' company is required by law to be registered at Companies House and there's no such company registered there. As they're operating fraudulently it's therefore obvious that their offer is fraudulent too.

This is not the first time that a Job centre had offered fraudulent jobs to job seekers and I'm very unimpressed and not a little annoyed that government funded schemes are promoting fraud, even if it is being done through ignorance. I was taught that ignorance is no excuse.

Being more than a little irritated on your behalf I called up the Paypal page as I felt compelled to take up their offer.

Strangely enough their Paypal page is headed Universal Training.(At this stage the scammer should be experiencing a trickle of sweat running down his face). I've taken a screen print. Where this leads is interesting. I'll do some digging.

I'll consider submitting a report to the police who should be able to identify the scammer from his Paypal account and ought to be able to shut down the operation. The scammer appears to have neglected a serious flaw in this idea.

Using a Paypal account to perform fraud is a seriously stupid idea. They aren't smart enough to teach anyone anything.

If you can link me to the original advert sweetpea12 that would be useful, or let me know what wording they used.

The fact that they're misrepresenting the fact that they're operating a government backed scheme, then peddling it through Job Centres and using a Paypal account to do it, is crazily stupid and outrageously fraudulent.

Knowing the adverts they're using would help me join the dots. The police and Department for Employment, among others, may be interested.

The mail address leads to a nest of virtual offices and mail forwarding companies.

I'll see if I can pick up the job adverts myself. No luck, but that's not surprising as they often use very bland offers with little detail. I always wonder where official job creation figures come from because if they use Job Centre ads then they're guaranteed to be woesomly wrong because so many are scams.
