Almost Scammed

I RECEIVED THIS EMAIL YESTERDAY FROM MY SCAMMER ... HE NOW HAS STARTED CALLING ME BUT I THINK AFTER MENTIONING THE POLICE, HE WILL FINALLY LEAVE ME ALONE? AFTER ALL THIS I CANNOT BELIEVE HE KEEPS TRYING!!!!

Scammers' persistence is positively amazing. He may continue to try, even after the mention of the police. He knows the police can't do anything, because he is not in their jurisdiction anyway. Once they have found someone they think will pay, scammers hang on tightly. If he does try, just ignore his phone calls, and don't answer his email.

In late summer Mochagirl, even when I swat a wasp, it still comes back if it gets a whiff of something to feed on. It also increases a scammer's prestige that he isn't just sending out hundreds of unanswered mails a day. The fact that he's actually got contact with a potential victim gives him 'bragging rights' among his internet cafe pals.

I can't believe it! I think I'm talking to this guy right now. He is calling himself Sgt. Anthony Handy, claims his middle name is Carlos and that he's from Lake City, Florida. He claims to be in the army In Qatar. He sent me lots of pictures of himself and his daughter. He claims he lost his wife when his daughter was born. I met this gentleman on a dating site when he emailed me and we started a conversation. The dialog is choppy like you described, but he claims he isn't very good on the computer. Its the third day and he claims he wants to marry me, buy me a house, and that he has 2 million dollars in the bank, but can't access it because its over in the states. He told me how much he makes each month pay and claims he has been stationed there in Qatar for 2 years and 6 months and will be there until he retires in about 3 years. He has asked me to apply for his leave from the military, he tells me it will go faster that way. He has sent me about 10 pictures of himself and his daughter, my guess is that its probably not really him. He's tried calling me several times, but never actually got through. He text message my phone several times with no problem though---makes you wonder though. I felt this was a scam by the second day and did a web search on his name and found this posting. So much of what you are telling me is very similar. He calls me his queen constantly, tells me how much he loves me all the time. Tonight he asked me to send him 250.00 so he can buy a computer and to send it to him by western union. I thought to myself, a man who claims to have millions and he wants me to send him money? I think not. I am actually talking to this man on line as we speak. I would like to know if it is truly the same person and if so how can we stop him from doing this to anyone else? I have his emails and pics I can send, just tell me where to send it to.

Please stop all contact with the scammer immediately. Also, please do not let him know about ScamWarners or his info posted here. If he becomes aware, he'll change what information he's using and it will be harder for future victims to find out he's a scammer.

i wish there was pictures on here i do believe i have the same scammer not sure he says he is in the army has a daughter he asked me to send money to his mom for his daughters birthday monday mmmm but i said no i dont know you like that so im not doing it he told me he is in iraq getting out next month his daughter is in Nigeria with his mom man i wish i could see the pictures of him

What you are describing is definitely a scammer, but if you look around this forum, you will see that there are literally hundreds of scammers posted on this forum alone, using the same storylines and general scenarios. They use photos of real soldiers copied from online, and there are literally thousands of real soldiers whose names and/or likenesses have been used in scams.

If you post the name and email address of your scammer as well as his first couple of messages (a script he will reuse), you can help others to avoid being scammed. You can also post the photos you have--just follow the instructions in the link in my signature.

thanks it couldnt tell me were the emails were coming from but he stopped emailing me once i told him i wasnt sending no money to nigieria please lol i found the same pictures on so many different sites but in the comments women are on to him smh were is the real person the scammed these pictures from thats a shame that there name is being used like this
